Rockfield pickups...

Anyone else like em?

I've played, emg's, duncans, dimarzio's, swineshead, dean DMT, and bare knuckle pickups, and I finally tried out a few different rockfield models.

SWC, SWV(both "select wounds" were bridge and neck paired), the fat ass, and the mafia. and they all are awesome pickups that give duncan and dimarzio and the likes a run for their money, but I don't think i've ever found a better pickup for my sound than the rockfield select wound custom. both bridge and neck in a michael kelly patriot custom(VERY good guitars, especially in that price range, i've yet to find anything better[at least for me])

than the bugera 333xl(a peavey JSX copy, which I wish I had cash for the peavey, but this'll do) a michael kelly guitar, with rockfield SWC pickups. :cool2:

Re: Rockfield pickups...

tell me about it.

meh, I like my bugera, to be honest I want a marshal DSL 100, but this definitely cuts it for my budget..

Re: Rockfield pickups...

told ya.
I have no experience with Rockfield pups
I played a bugera 333XL combo next to a PV valveking and the Bugera ate its lunch
unfortunately to alot of people around here unless you have a $2000+ handwired tube amp and a les paul custom with duncans in it, they cant be bothered talking to you
F that man
bottom line is there is alot of gear out there that sounds great and is affordable and sounds great, let your ears be the judge
If you have a 2 thousand dollar amp and a 3 thousand dollar guitar and no one is paying to hear you play, then your a friggin fool.
sometimes i hate these boards

oh, yeh , rockfiels pups? uhm, no havent heard them, but they do come in some kiskazz little boxes

rant over

Re: Rockfield pickups...

I recently became a Rockfield dealer (don't hate me SD lovers) and while the build quality and finish is inferior to SD's the tone of the Fatass and SWC's is pretty darn good. They certainly have their place in the aftermarket pickup world.

Wow, what pushed you over the edge to pick them up John?

Re: Rockfield pickups...

I've played guitars with Rockfields and liked them a lot but didn't love them. The SWC sounds orgasmic in the neck by the way

Re: Rockfield pickups...

The boxes are killer!
The pickups are MUCH better than MOST pickups that come stock in guitars.
Matter of fact, I almost didnt change the stockers (SWC) out of my Michael Kelly. And I change EVERYTHING!! haha I did leave the stock neck in and put a BBQ in the bridge for alil more hair.. But the stock neck sounds great. And I have it wired out of phase, so its even more unique..
Sadly, since the pups came in the guitar, I didnt get the boxes..
