I try to pick one of my guitars to be my main one.. I guess Im just a sl-t, or fickle or something. Cuz I have many loves... And when I think I found number #1, I fall for another..
I got my Burny out of storage this morn and plugged it up..after sitting for a few months, it was still very close to being in tune.
I tuned up, plugged up and had a very inspired jam.. That guitar weighs a ton, but it sustains like mad. I hit a power chord, slugged most of a beer and was still ringing! (had gone to nice feedback at that point)
It has a BK Rebel Yell set in it. ( I pulled out the EMG Zakk set that came in it when I bought it). I must say I believe I prefer a neck pickup with alittle more heat. Many of my guitars have either 59b models or Jazz pups in the neck.. Even tho I have the pups balanced volume wise, When i switch to the neck pups, the tone is much more sterile/dry (not sure the correct term Im looking for). Just not getting the fluid lead tone I hear in my head.
The thing that excited me most today, is that I was able to dial the gain way down to and on gear one, and was still getting a great tone..
Definately going to be spending some time with the Burny.
Sorry, there may not be much purpose or point to this thread. Just kinda thinking out loud.
Gonna be posting a question in pickup forum related tho...
