Re: rocktron prophesy II
The Prophesy is a hard core machine compared to the Boss....IMHO, toy vs pro gear.
LIKES:
The artist patches from the factory are completely useable; I especially love the Gary Hoey ones :bigok:
Very easy to tweak it......stellar effects, esp. the reverbs & delays....the 4 preamp models (American/Texas Blues/British Vintage/Mega Drive) are all very good...HUGE processing power, almost computer-like...
DISLIKES:
It has 127 factory patches, most of which I would never use...No user assigned patches, which means if you want to build your own patches, you basically have to remove EVERYTHING from a factory setting & build yours from the ground up. Easily done, but very time consuming.
That's actually my only gripe with the unit.
A lot of the patches I'll never use & I reassigned them to the end & if I want to build my own, I just start at the back.
I don't use a lot of the fx, so that's no big deal. The EQ section is monstrous, so if you wanna tweak around in there, good luck to ya'
Is it worth the price of admission? Well, in my personal opinion, NO...not new...but there are very few things that I think are worth the money new, especially when you consider the used market & the availability of so much gear.
I would look for a good used one that's either been upgraded or upgrade it yourself. I THINK the download is free from Rocktron. They also have a User Group Forum where folks exchange patches.
I haven't had mine long & if you let yourself get carried away, you can tweak forever & not get the same sound twice.
I hope I helped....a little !!!! :laugh2:
