i just got one, but didn't come with the manual. i figured out how to do kits and patterns and stuff like that so far, but i don't know how to make the patterns into a song or copy patterns i make. i'm stuck with stupid music loops until i can figure it out.

can anyone help with this? anyone else use this model? also, i can't seem to find a similar device these days. anyone know of a device that can do the keyboards, guitar, drums, etc... like this?

Re: Roland DR-5

wow, it can do all that (bass, guitar loops?) that's pretty cool.

if it's anything like the dr-550 I used to use, there should be a separate song-creating area where you put together all your patterns back to back. some buttons on the dr-550 I think are dual buttons, where you hold shift down and then select the second feature. yours got a shift button? key pads with two descriptions on em?

yeah, i'm really suprised why they don't keep making these. they're really great because you can create entire arrangements with them. they have lots of drum, bass, keyboard/synth/guitar, etc... kits, and you can make custom kits too. there are so many options on this thing, i'll probably never know them all. the funny thing is that it's all useful.

i'm so impressed with this thing that i'll probably buy another just for backup. as soon as i learn how to put the patterns together in song mode, i'll be free from theses stupid music loops.

also, it really seems to help if you can't get inspired with the guitar or if you want to just put down some ideas real quick. the keypads, in guitar mode, are arranged like a guitar fretboard. this thing is friggin amazing. to hell with boss for not making it anymore.
