hi
i would like to know where i can add my roland gr 20 or gp 10 in my pedal chain

amp >delay > gr 20 > disto > guitar

or amp >delay > disto> gr 20 > guitar ?

Re: roland gr 10- 20 - 55 where in the pedal chain?

What are you doing with it? And the answer is wherever you think it sounds best.

Re: roland gr 10- 20 - 55 where in the pedal chain?

i must add it between my pedals

using the gk3 for synth -guitar simulations

Re: roland gr 10- 20 - 55 where in the pedal chain?

In most cases I would think you are not using the stomps with the synth so it doesn't matter. The Rolands can emulate almost any stomp effect internally. Mine is on a separate loop. If I were to have the synth in the same chain I would have the effects afterward. Just in case I wanted to color a patch with a bit of delay.

Re: roland gr 10- 20 - 55 where in the pedal chain?

so, amp, delay, effects, distortion, BOSS GP 10 and wah and tuner, buffer for example ?

i also have a GR 20 : i didn't like the tracking, latency but
very good strings ensemble
mellotron
nylon+synth together

classic synth pads

i don't know the GP 10 : i just played 10mn with it
i don't know if the strings ensemble are as good as those in the gr 20 : i am not sure of that
but acoustic guitars simulations are awesome

this product has a lof of features with an amp
with the gk 3
with a sound card so
with the software
it takes a lot of time to know it

Re: roland gr 10- 20 - 55 where in the pedal chain?

I have my synths going to a channel on a mixer, along with the direct signal of my Fractal. In the effects loop of the mixer, I use my looper. It keeps the synths out of the chain of the guitar, and keeps everything sounding clean.

Re: roland gr 10- 20 - 55 where in the pedal chain?

I always ran mine at the end of the chain and sent the synth to a separate amp or the PA.

Re: roland gr 10- 20 - 55 where in the pedal chain?

I always considered any guitar synthesiser or MIDI Guitar system that I was using to be separate and parallel to the signal from magnetic or piezo pickups.

Re: roland gr 10- 20 - 55 where in the pedal chain?

the gk3 allows us to play with the synth and with the guitar and together :)

Re: roland gr 10- 20 - 55 where in the pedal chain?

Yes BUT the amplification response that enhances the guitar signal does not do many favours to the majority of synthesizer and sample-based sounds.

True, true. I would suggest the OP go straight to the board if he is playing live. If you are playing at home spend $50 and get a used little keyboard amp.

Re: roland gr 10- 20 - 55 where in the pedal chain?

yes i think it will be better close to the delay

amp> delay >effects

but BOSS puts the acoustic simulation pedal close to the tuner for example

Re: roland gr 10- 20 - 55 where in the pedal chain?

Straight to the board was the only way I did it. I use good modelers for the magnetics, a good compressor and multieffects for the piezo (I used a Bloss VF-1 at the time), and the synth signal went directly from the synth to the mixer to the PA. It kept everything discrete, and the synth sounded huge. A guitar synth played through a guitar amp is not very pretty.

Re: roland gr 10- 20 - 55 where in the pedal chain?

… except, maybe, if it is a Roland JC-120 Jazz Chorus.

The other suggestion for a 13-pin hex pickup user is the old Roland V-Amplifier series. The virtual guitar technology is built right into the amplifier.

Re: roland gr 10- 20 - 55 where in the pedal chain?

Separate paths for me. Guitar to GR-55, synth out to desk, guitar out to pedals/amp.

For a little while I was using a Vox AC30CC2X - and put the synth through the normal channel and guitar through the top boost - it was a serviceable setup, as I typically used guitar-only or blend tones.

All that said, I never really gelled with guitar synth, so it sits in my studio doing very little!

Re: roland gr 10- 20 - 55 where in the pedal chain?

i have a gr 20 but the tracking latency and ghost notes were bad
the gp 10 is amazing for tracking no latency no ghost notes

but where are the strings ensembles ?
i need time to explore it
but i think i need a gr 55

i don't see nylon strings+synth together

but 12 strings+acoustic simulations are really good

i will try it with a computer too because high gain simulations and chorus are really good

Re: roland gr 10- 20 - 55 where in the pedal chain?

Have you tried the Roland VG99, the BOSS GT100 or any of the Electro-Harmonix "9" series pedals?

This is a useful website.
