Rough frets?

My new guitar's frets are kind of rough and stick a little when I bend strings. What can I do to make them a little slicker?

Re: Rough frets?

Does it really need all of that? The ends of the frets are already really round and smooth. Its just when I bend notes there is small bit of drag kind of like if there was a little bit of finish on the frets(even though there is not, I checked). I was just wondering if maybe a little steel wool or some really light sand paper like 1500 grit or something would do the trick. I don't want to mess things up really baddly when it's only a little bit off.

El Dorado,
if you have doubts about doing the work yourself, you might talk to Fred over at the Repair Zone. He should be able to do a light fret dress for a reasonable price.

Re: Rough frets?

Try a small ball of 000 steel wool pinched between your fingers. Wipe across each fret until nicely polished. You may just have some grime on them. Be careful not to get any steel wool "hairs" on your pups- they can cause trouble for them!

Good Luck, Bro!
