RP50 vs POD

Hi guys,

I am not unhappy with my current multifx Digitech RP50, but I'm thinking
about upgrading to.... POD from Line6. :yell:

The POD 2.0 has dropped major in price and they say
the amp modeling is much better than the RP50.
But: the RP50 has some things more: wah, phaser, drum, tremolo....

Does anybody got some good advice for me?

Re: RP50 vs POD

oh my god this is like comparing gold to a turd in the toilet :laugh2:
POD hands down!!!!!! :smack:

Re: RP50 vs POD

My gawd man the RP50 is little more than a TOY. When i worked at GC we used to call those and the Dano Mini pedals "Fisher-Price effects" :laugh2:

The POD wins with an instant KO. The fact that the Digitech has a few more features doesn't even begin to make up for the fact that it sounds like a wasp in a jam jar.

The POD on its own is GREAT. Best money I ever spent on a single peice of gear.

the PODxt is now only $300 and is the best bang for the buck unit out there.
the V-amp is not all that much better than the digitech stuff

Re: RP50 vs POD

The Vox Tonelab is also down to $299 and deserves a look. Try both and see which one you like.

Re: RP50 vs POD

If the Tonelab is now the same price as the Pod (2.0 or XT), I would go for the Tonelab.

Re: RP50 vs POD

Ok guys, thax for your wise replies!

I will immediate start saving some money (Cristmas ? :laugh2: :laugh2: ) to get rid of my TOY-thing and buy a real multiFX.

Re: RP50 vs POD

The Digitech RP pedals are fun for playing at home, maybe with headphones, but pretty much useless at any real volume. Nothing but feedback.

get the pod, never look back

He Davey,
I saw you on my other topic bout the Zakk Wylde pick-ups.

What do you advice: get rid of the HZ pickups first, or first throw away the RP50?

About possessed ruins: good to know that Maribor kicks ass too!
:yourock:

Nice sound, that's a plea for the JB-59 combination.
That's the combination that I had in mind, together with the Dimarzio Superdistortion/Paf pro combination.
I' m still in doubt about that.

Peace!

YAY, you listened to my music! thanks a lot man :D

the pickups i could live with, but if you're playing through equipment that doesnt sound good in the first place (basing on what the others said) pickups wont make much of a diference. i'm in love with my guitarport lol (i shouldnt say that out loud, should i)

the dimarzio SD/paf (not the pro) was one of my choices also since dave murray swore by those in the early 80's.. but then he kind of switched to the SH4 for the donnington era. was on/off with em and since thats one of the best sounds from him, so after a lot of listening to the sound samples on the SD site, i went with it and i couldnt be happier.

you should take your time and not rush into it. go with whatever works best in your ear

He Davey (and others),

Thanx for the advice. :burnout:
About the question of what to do first (pups or FX):
I've thought about it and decided first to get rid of the passive EMG's before buying the POD.
I think that a guitar is the basis for music and that is the starting point. So that has to be good.
I'll go for the 59/JB combination, that will improve my sound a lot.

Later on I will get the POD. It's a pity I ain't a rich guy, then I wouldn't have to make such hard decisions. :13:
Agree?

Re: RP50 vs POD

oh yea! definatelly.. and to tell you the truth, you'll only get a little bit closer with the POD and pups. it's friggin awesome for what it is, but it's not a full tube amp with a 4x12 cab beneath it
