Rumor / Slanted Pickups

I heard a rumor (read it more specifically) that the custom shop said they will not make slanted pickups. You know - the kind one often finds on Fan fretted or 7/8 string or extended scale/multi scale guitars.

Is this true?

And if so, why not?

they do/did make nighthawk style slanted 6 string buckers but id assume they dont have baseplates for slanted 7/8 string pups if they wont make them

Yes, my guess is 'fabricating the baseplate' part is the hard thing to do. However, I haven't heard of any flat-out 'no'. If Slash suddenly started playing a fanned fret 9 string, and went to MJ to make his pickups, my guess is that they would find a way.

if slash started playing a fanned fret 9 string, i bet they would sell more 9 string offset pups too which would make it worth their while to stock offset 7/8/9 string baseplates

I asked Slash if he had any interest in fan-frets and 8 strings. He said no.

That’s a fantastic April Fools next year, Slash endorsing the new Kramer 8 string fanned fret.

It works because you just don’t know. You’re pretty sure but there’s that chance….
