RWRP Middle Strat Pup - Wire it any differently?

Hi everybody,

I received my set of California 50s ( 3 SSL-1s) from Guitar Heaven and they claim the set is, not only calibrated, but also Reverse Wound, Reverse Polarity:

My question is:

Do I have to switch the hot and ground wires on the middle pickup during the soldering process to achieve the noise cancelling effect in positions 2 and 4?

Or do I simply treat them like I would the other pups during wiring?

Thanks y'all. :)

Switching the leads on the Middle PU will result in out-of-phase sound, as discussed recently (can't remember what the thread title was)

Thanks Artie and Arkitkt....After a trip to Radio Shack for an output jack, I spent this afternoon installing the SSL-1s and they sound G-R-E-A-T !

I used the Stewart McDonald Megaswitch and wired position 3 for neck and bridge....I've never had that possibility before and much prefer it to the single middle pickup which is rather bland to my ears.

This guitar sounds so much closer to my friend's '58 Strat than it did before....a TON more quack than the (ugh) EMGs that were in it. My old knobs don't fit the new CTS pots so that will be another trip to the store tomorrow, but here it is:

1987 Strat with California 50s

It's definitely a RWRP middle pup and I simply wired it like the others....positions 2 and 4 are nice and quiet !!

Thanks, y'all for the help. :yourock:

Fine looking strat, my friend. You might want to install some knobs, though. :smack: :smack:

BTW, how's that Roland thing?

Thanks!

Yes, volume swells without knobs would probably shred off the flesh on my little pinkey.
:eek5:

I love the Roland. I actually bought the GR-20 May of last year, but haven't had much time to play with it. I'm working full time and in college 4 nights a week. (This is the last semester though :arms: :arms: )

I was waiting to replace the pickups before permanently installing the Hex pup as I had to drill holes into the guitar for the screws. The double sided tape is NOT a good way to attach the Hex pup....it would always raise off the guitar.

Now, the Hex pup is going to stay put!

After graduation in May, I'm going to really get to know this thing....just getting things ready now.
