I think only certain GC's in the LA area carry them...for example, the El Toro store. I always figured it was a non-compete situation with the MB Hollywood store.

Re: sam ash and mesa!

mesa doesn't allow any catalog or website advertising for their amps. it is in the dealer agreement.

Re: sam ash and mesa!

i spoke to a mesa rep about that very thing. apparently they're too small a company to accomodate the kind of sales they'd get if they went online. i agree that keeping the company as they are is best. they've got a great name and some of the best products around, IMO. i wouldn't want them to be "fenderized" or anything. they're fine the way they are... although i do wish they were accessible via paypal somehow.

Re: sam ash and mesa!

oh, okay, thanks. i do wish they were easier to find. and besides, they would be cheaper at a sam ash, or guitar center.

Actually, they aren't. At GC, they have a prenegotiated pricepoint that they can't drop below, unless they are on clearance. That's how I got my Road King, it was on clearance one 4th of July for $600 off the regular price. Other than that, you can't negotiate down. At a mom and pop, I think you can.

Re: sam ash and mesa!

correctamundo. i was told by the area manager of guitar center that NO deals can be made on mesa amps and they're NEVER on sale. hell, i don't care. they're worth every penny.

Actually, no, because Mesa is very adamant about dealers holding to retail prices. SOmetimes there will be a speciall promotion, but for the most parts the blowouts you see from every other manufacturer (usually do to excess stock) are practically unheard of for Mesa, as are any decent "deals" on new ones ;)

Last one I remember was when the Stiletto Ace was introduced, I think they were like 300$ cheaper or something for 2 weeks....

Re: sam ash and mesa!

...also, I think Mesa dealers are allowed to reduce prices when a model is discontinued, such as the recently discontinued Bass 400+ and the Mark I re-issue.

Re: sam ash and mesa!

I bought a Dual Recto from Scam Cash in NYC back in '95 or so...

The prices were set in stone even back then, but I got lucky... Right before I bought it the salesweasel told me about an upcoming sale on everything. I waited a few weeks and got I think 10% off... basically enough to cover the insane NYC sales tax!
