Satchur8 vs Mo' Joe vs Fred

Thoughts on Joe Satriani's bridge pickups?

Building an HH Basswood Strat and wanting to use Joe's pickups; however, haven't been able to find any to play—only been able to find JS100s nearby to play (and I think those have Axis pickups and not any of his signatures.)

Not sure if anyone has played 2 or 3 of his signature bridges—reviews/thoughts would be appreciated!

I had a Fred years ago in a Mexican strat. I remember it being fairly versatile. My other guitars all had EMG's and I was still figuring out what I liked and didn't like. I just remember it being fairly 'crunchy' and did it's job. Kinda like a Custom or 498t in output if I remember. But it's been a long time.

I thought the Mo Joe was boring and generic sounding when I had it. The Fred in the bridge and a PAF Joe in the neck is a classic combo. I have that in an Ibanez RG. The Fred is a bit thinner than some bridge humbuckers, but has great growl to it. It is like a PAF Pro with more mids. Have not tried the Satur8, but I have never liked A-8 magnets in anything I've tried them in. Too mid heavy and aggressive.

you seem skilled on the subject, I have a paf pro in a drawer never used ( it's pink), given by a friend, compared to a standard '59 what do you think are the differences ? I have to decide zto give it a chance , thx

I just installed a mojoe/paf joe set in my rg520qs. I'm still getting used to them, but 1st impressions are good.

The mojoe has tons of harmonics which make it seem brighter. Rolling the volume back to 9 tames them, and you get a nice mid power humbucker.

I heard the satchur8 is a norton with an a8?
