Can someone who has had experience with this pickup please describe it with comparison of other well known Duncan neck pickups?

Trying to determine, if I will like it in the neck of a Les Paul, better than a Pearly Gates neck pup.

Thanks for any help in advance!!

my experience with Duncan neck pups are:

PGn
59n
Jazzn
FullShredn
Sceamin Deamon

Thanks in advance!!

Re: Saturday Night Special Neck help

very interesting, The only two I have played in the neck are the Jazz and the Screamin' Demon. I personally like the Demon a bit more. the Saturday Night neck pickup would be interesting as well.

Less bass and less treble than the Jazz, it just sounded sterile and flat to me. Bear in mind that my usual pickups of choice all have A2 magnets and I didn't want to make radical changes to my setup for that one guitar.

So it lacks character? I already find the Jazz to be compressed in the mids, so you saying this is worse?

What’s your A2 go to neck pickup? I was shocked that the PGn isn’t working for me in this axe, while in anothe LP it kicks ass.

Re: Saturday Night Special Neck help

I would describe it as a hotter, brattier 59. Certainly has lots of character.

Re: Saturday Night Special Neck help

I've currently got one in my Les Paul, and had the set in another Les Paul for a year. In my opinion it's the best Duncan neck pickup I've tried if you are wanting to play a wide variety of styles in a Les Paul type guitar. Compared to the 59 less bass, more mids and about the same treble, it seems easier to dial in than the 59 to get it to sound good. Less power and brighter than the WLH neck, with better treble response. Fuller and easier to get that paf type bluesy tone than the jazz ( I did jam an A4 into a jazz several years ago and it wasn't a long way off from the SNS, hmmmm). More treble , especially with the volume rolled back, similar mids, and stronger more firm low end than the Pearly gates. The same goes for the APH models as the pearly. This is not to say I dislike any of the others, I wish I had a Les Paul for each of them! But as I only have one now, it's got the SNS in it.

I think this sold me on trying it!
