SC size bucker cover problem

Anybody else have a problem with the covers coming off of the new style 'lil' humbuckers? I had the cover come loose from my lil 59 tonight. Because of the construction, this means that the guts of the pickup are wiggling slightly towards and away from the strings. Had it only a few months and it had never left my house.

Normally, I would have just figured it was me being a moron, except I've seen several ebay listings with people saying the cover had been glued back on or loose covers on these (JB Jr, Lil 59, Lil Screamin Demon, Duckbuckers). I'm not sure how to handle it. Seems like a fairly large design flaw that causes the problem, but I can't find anything in the searches about it.

Must be the glue.

The same problem afflicted the original Li'l '59, Li'l JB and Li'l Screamin' Demon pickups with the plastic top plates and tape wraps. At least, with the earlier version, you could hold on to the ends of the bobbin baseplate whilst pressing the cover back into postion.

Yep...similar issue. Except now the coils don't have a backplate to resist against and when the adhesive lets go, so does the meat of the pickup.

Are there any good solutions for this? Super glue and a clamp?

Re: SC size bucker cover problem

I have used Superglue on the old-style Li'l HB pickups but, of course, doing so never denied my access to the innards of the pickup.

For the current, fully enclosed versions of these pickups, you need to find an adhesive that will fasten the coils within the cover securely enough to work under stage/studio conditions BUT that can also be detatchable in the event that you need to make internal repairs. Tricky.

FTR...super glue and a clamp works well. Looks terrible, but holds it together.

Funny thing is, I didn't like that pickup at all until the cover came off. I just held on to it to play with because I wanted to fill a blank spot in a pickguard. Now I love it...go figure.

Dude! Exact same thing happened to me with my hotrails! I have a Dimarzio in the middel and nothing like this ever happened to that one, so it was really noticable when all of a sudden I couldn't see the rails on the pickup. When I finally unscrewed the pickguard and pushed the rails up they were covered in rust! I'm not sure if this effects the tone much, but I just took some scotch tape to hold it in place
