so im looking to get a scarlet 2i2. it looks like it will accept speakon cables. but i cant find an exact answer if they do. does anyone know of have any experience with the scarlet?

Re: scarlet 2i2???

I have one and I love it. It does have a speakon jack but I have never used it with a speakon.

Re: scarlet 2i2???

i am not using speakon at the moment. I have been hearing a lot about the speakon cables lately that there better than xlr for quality. and a buddy was wanting to get them but we were nott sure if the scarlet was capable of accepting the plug

Re: scarlet 2i2???

Well, I use mine with a shure SM57 mic through an XLR and I get great quality recordings this way. I mic whatever guitar amp I am using at the moment. For bass guitar I use the post-EQ XLR direct out on my Gallien-Krueger amp and get great quality recordings this way too. I've been recording this way for the past decade now. XLR cables get the job done, there is really no reason to not use them IMO.

Re: scarlet 2i2???

I have only used Speakon in speaker cables, connecting PA speakers or very high powered subwoofers; never used one for recording. I am 2 feet from my 2i2 and it looks like it would work, but you are better off asking this question on the Focusrite forums, I think. Personally, I don't see the need to reinvent the wheel here; sonically, XLR is great, and there's no need for the locking Speakon unless you plan on swinging the 2i2 around! :)
