Schecter 007

Alright, I'm new here so I wont ask "Whats the best pup for me?" But...

I will ask if anyone changed out the pups in their 007. The tone on mine is not quite where I like it. Its pretty harsh on leads. Its got Duncan Design and I'm thinking about changing them out.

What did YOU go with that made you happy?

I did put a Distortion in my Strat and it sounds great, but I dont know if it has enough warmth for the Schecter.

I need 2 humbuckers that RAWK! Warm on leads and lots of crunch.

Thanks

Riff

Re: Schecter 007

My favorite pickups in the three Schecter's I've had have been 81's and 85's in the bridge - 81 getting the slight edge, but I'll update next week when I finally get my 81-7 in.

What kind of music are you going to be playing?

Re: Schecter 007

Is it the one with the single coil in the neck? You're gonna either keep that, put a dimarzio blaze middle in there or get a custom shop pickup because those 2 are the only production single coils for 7-strings.

The 007 is a warm instrument and rules, congrats, lol. You should not have any problems with any pup being warm, maybe a bit muddy depending on what it is but I don't think the SH6 could ever be muddy haha.

Re: Schecter 007

I have 2 humbuckers in mine.

Here's some stuff I recorded with it. Check it out if you would.

The one called Schecter is a good comparison because I play a solo at 2:08 with my Les Paul Custom and a solo at 2:58 with the Schecter. The difference is pretty clear to me.

Am I expecting too much to want my Schecter as warm as the Paul? :)
