schecter doesnt sound right...

my schecter damien 7 came set up from the factory almost perfect, but i adjusted the intonation a little more to get it exact. My problem is that when i hit and hold a low chord (usually a power chord) using the b string, it doesnt sound right at all, and i originally thought it could be that the pickups were to close to the strings. My pickups are now really low with almost no output, the chords sound a little better, but still not as good as they should be. Is there something i need to check or fix?

Re: schecter doesnt sound right...

Is it in tune? Not open, but when comparing strings? What about using the different pickups?

Re: schecter doesnt sound right...

What do you mean "doesn't sound right?"

What exactly sounds wrong?

Re: schecter doesnt sound right...

If you depress the strings at the 1st fret, make sure the nut isn't so high that the string is bending sharp. Also, make sure you didn't go up a string gauge after bringing it home. The low string may not be seated in the nut right.

When you intonate, make sure every note from the 10th to the 20th fret reads as close to perfect as humanly possible on your tuner. Make sure the string height is perfect for how hard you play.......ie..light touchers require low action.....heavy handers need slightly higher action.

Re: schecter doesnt sound right...

ill go take a look at that.

i also noticed that the neck pickup sounds more normal than the bridge

it sounds fine clean, but with dist. i can hear how its not working well...
and for some reason drop A sounds better than in standard

Re: schecter doesnt sound right...

Make sure the intonation is right, make sure it's in tune with the rest of the strings, not just the tuner. What do you have it all tuned to, with what string guage?
