Schematic for making a 500k pot work as 250k?

Hi everyone,

Been playing around with my HSH Ernie Ball Silhouette with a new WLH set in it for a couple weeks now. Had some reservations at first but it's grown on me quite a bit. However, I am still wanting to put a 500k volume pot in there (currently there's a 250k pot) to open up the humbuckers a bit more but I don't want to lose the 250k sound on the single coil. I know there's a way of wiring a resistor to the pot so that the guitar "sees" a 500k pot as a 250k in certain positions.

Does anyone know where I can find a diagram showing how I can make the middle single coil still sound like it has a 250k pot while sounding like a 500k pot in the humbucking positions?

Thanks!

Max

Are these 2 con humbuckers (Gibson braided hook up wire) and what switch are you using?

With a fender standard switch and 2 con humbuckers you can modify this schematic.

Just remove the jumper wire at the switch and connect the resistor with the point where the jumper ended.

Thanks hamerfan.

I'm using a standard 5-way Fender style switch with 4-conductor humbuckers. Don't know if that makes a difference.

If you want to use the split option only with the bridge hum, you can use the second diagram. If you want split options on both hummers, you need a different switch with more switching stages.

Next option: 2 other switches like push pull pots
