Screamin Demon in LP Bridge

I'm sure there's a thread out there talking about this, but I'm a lazy piece of doodie.

I have an LP (Classic) and I have a Screamin Demon standard spacing collecting dust.

I typically play the higher gain pickups, JB, Distortion, etc. But, I'm willing to try out that Demon again. The JB is a tad bright in that guitar, and I suppose a "little more growl" could be the answer.

Anyone tried one? What'd you think? How did you goose it into high-gain territory?

Tried it, kept it. More even and growly than the JB (no upper mid spike see) NOT a high output pickup per se but is triff wiv cleran, crunch and with gobs of amp gain.

I dunno, tried the Demon twice, did not like it either time, found it shrill. JB does have a high mid spike but the Demon seemed to have some harsher highs

Sounds like someone on the boards needs to try a Demon with an alnico II magnet then report back to us. :-D

Re: Screamin Demon in LP Bridge

A demon has just arrived to me and is replacing the pos 1 trick pony gibson 500t in my les paul classic.

I took a while in my decision for a bridge humbucker, i hope it works out for me!

If that doesn't work, then double down on the dose with some screw pole pieces in place of the hex poles.

Re: Screamin Demon in LP Bridge

Some people have loved it and some have hated it.
I've disliked every LP I've heard with a Demon in the bridge (which was two), but you should check it out and see how it sounds. You can always sell/trade it for something else if you don't like it.
If you're looking to have a hotter output than the Gibson pup that's already in there, then I don't think the Demon will do the trick.

Re: Screamin Demon in LP Bridge

Thanks guys. Naw, I'm not looking for hotter than the JB that already lives there, just something a little "rounder" I guess. I'd like it to be versatile, from metal to clean, but sometimes the upper mid peak is too much.
