Scumback speakers

I'm thinking of getting their greenback or g12h clone for the Frenzel 5e3 Deluxe plus I just ordered.

Any thoughts?

You Must Check this link:

http://www.thegearpage.net/board/showthread.php?t=86870&highlight=heritage

It has recordings of all the scumbacks, heritage celestiosn, pre-rola celestions and some others.

THEN, go to post #92 for the link to where they reveal which clips are with wich speaker.

I'm going to be getting a 1x12 extension cab and have been fretting about what speaker to put in... these links helped alot (except I liked the old celestions the best, which I can't afford!).

Have fun!!!

Re: Scumback speakers

He appears to know his stuff, but on another forum I'm a member of they showed a quote of his talking about how DIY guys are just cheap "bastids"

Re: Scumback speakers

That's not very nice is it...

No, and a lot of guys said

"Pot, meet Kettle"

However he claimed he was reproducing something out of production, then Celestion released the Heritage series. To which they responded, did you quit making speakers?

I didn't get in on it, but as I said before he REALLY seems knowledgeable.

They are great speakers! I'm the one (Andy from that referring post above) who did all the unbiased recording clips for them. They are built by Weber per their exact specs. You cannot get these models from Weber, only through Scumback themselves. Not too mention if you call Jim from Scumback will personally help you decipher which is teh best speaker for your situation.

Thanks for doing that Andy.
I like the sound of old speakers, and the scumbacks really do sound like good old speakers.

I hope people reading this post are checking out those clips.

Re: Scumback speakers

The've done a great job in recreating them Robert. And considering their cost next to the Heritage series, it's quite a win-win. I use their H75 (G12H30 clone) with an old G12-65 in a 212 with my hot rodded Epi Valve Jr. It's rediculously loud, crisp and crunchy, all in a very good way. The H75 really has the precense and clarity. I also have a set of early 70's blackback G12M's that the Scum's M75's is dead on for. Those are my next purchase.

Re: Scumback speakers

They are a tad less effecient but VERY toneful

I have a thing for their 75-LHDC and it's thickness. The highs on the H30 remakes are classic and sweet.

If you are in the LA area, Jim will meet you and do demos. He is also open to sending out demo speakers for a trial run.
