SD-1 vs TS808

I know they do relitavly the same thing but what are the differences?

SD-1 uses 3 silicon diodes for gain, has a different tone stack(Mids are different)...The SD-1 is more aggressive, crunchy, and not sweet like the Tube Screamer....They are circuit close, but they don't sound or act the same stock....

The TS has less gain and uses only 2 silicon diodes to generate gain,is warmer and sweeter sounding, not as bright, not tight and crunchy like the SD-1 and the TS almost compresses when you dial the drive knob up...

The TS9 uses a TS 57778 Chip and the SD-1 uses a JRC 4558DD chip...The reissue 808 uses the JRC4558D...The only difference between an 808 and a TS9 is two resistors and the opamp...That's it..The rest is just buyer's BS and lots of false voodoo.....My modded TS9s eat original 808s for dinner.....Ask 59Paul and he'll tell ya!

John said it much better, I would have said SD-1 sucks more than the TS808.

The SD-1 is my least favorite modded pedal, but I won't say it sucks... It does the 70s Classic Rock thing(Foghat,Skynryd,Bad Co..)etc very well....

Re: SD-1 vs TS808

Should I mod my SD-1 to be like a TS808? I want to use the overdrive with my metalzone for a heavy rock sound and use it by itself for blues stuff and solos.
Can you mod MetalZones? I'm guessing they'd be alot more complexe than most pedals.

I don't do metal zones....Keeley and Indy I think do though? If you really want an 808 tone, buy the 808...Trust me on this one..The modded SD-1 just doesn't exactly nail the 808's tone...
