I installed a new Seymour Duncan 59 Trembucker in the bridge of my Strat last night and am really happy with it so far. I replaced a Mighty Mite humbucker which I got as part of a Mighty Mite loaded pickguard. I couldnt really crank it last night but it was already sounding better even at low volume.
I have a couple of questions:
- according to the installation instructions, the height of the pickup should be
set at 1/16 on the low E and 3/32 on the high E (might be the other way around , cant remember) with the string depressed at the last fret. I set it that way but the pickup seems awfully close to the strings, at least compared to how I had the previous one set. Is that how everyone else has their Seymour Duncan humbuckers set ?
- when I took the Mighty Mite pickup out I measured the resistence and it was a whopping 15KOhms. I measured the new Trembucker and it was only 8.7KOhms. I was worried that it would have very low ouput compared to the Mighty Mite - wrong! It had equally as much output. I guess the resistence reading doesnt have too much effect on the output.
