SD 59 Trembucker... wooden spacer?

Hey so I've got my 59 trembucker. I peeled back the tape and saw that the infamous wooden spacer they put in these pickups was metal. What gives? Do they not use wooden ones in the trembuckers?

dont know, id have to peel mine open to find out. i know the normal ones use a wooden spacer. on the screw coil there should be a metal spacer with holes in it

Oh, okay... well the screw coil was metal, and the stud coil had a spacer made of a black material which I believed to be plastic. I don't think there can be much difference between plastic and wood, they both seem like inert substances in this application to me... So the vintage constructed ones have a metal spacer too? Nothing for me to get all nitpicky about?

BTW... now that I have the 59 in the strat. It sounds great!
