SD Bridge Pickups Tone Comparison - Black Winter vs Omega vs Nazgul vs JB SH-4

Hi all, as a huge fan of the Duncan Pickups (at least every second of my guitars is equipped with a set of Duncans) I was interested on how the different sets in my guitars compare within my recording environment and therefore did a short bridge pickup comparison of the Black Winter, Omega, Nazgul and JB SH-4 within my Mayones Regius and PRS guitars. All guitars were tuned in drop B for this recording and you will hear the clean and distorted sounds by itself and in a full mix.

Hope you like my short comparison video and I’m looking forward to read your comments and feedback on which of the Duncan bridge pickups you prefer!

Well done! except for the clean comparison with that chorus!
The dirty ones i can even hear a difference with my rotten inears.
for me the Omega sounds best in this comparison (smallest honk, most open, clearest), which might be just the guitar, since it's the only PU in a different axe...
the black winter might sound better with less gain since it's the hottest out of those...

Thanks allot for your feedback ToneFiddler! The Omega is the most transparent and mix-ready pickup which fits extremely well into a down-tuned Metal tune without allot of tweaking afterwards. My personal favorite is the Nazgul which both sounds the most balanced and still modern.

Welcome to the forum and thanks for doing the demo.

I had a listen and I have to admit my ears weren't able to tell the difference. They could just as well have been all recorded with the same pickups to me.

First of all thanks for the warm welcome and your feedback. Have you listen the sound examples on quality speakers, monitors or headphones? You definitely should be able to hear a difference even though you can also hear that between different quality pickups serving the same purpose the sound isnt night and day in general ;)
