SD classic stack plus question

I recently installed a set of SD Classic Stack Plus pickups in a Strat. Initially I used a Hot Stack in the middle. Everything was fine, except I didn't think the tone / output was terrible compatable with the Classic Plus. So here is the first configuration:

n = S.Duncan STK-S4n Classic Stack Plus neck
m = S.Duncan STK-S2n Hot Stack neck
b = S.Duncan STK-S4b Classic Stack Plus bridge

Then I found a Classic Plus STK-S4m online and decided to change out middle pickup so the new configutation is:

n = S.Duncan STK-S4n Classic Stack Plus neck
m = S.Duncan STK-S4m Classic Stack Plus middle
b = S.Duncan STK-S4b Classic Stack Plus bridge

According to the wiring instruction, all three pickups use the white lead for hot out and black to ground with drain (bare lead). Makes sense, right?

But when I did this, the middle pickup was out of phase with the neck and middle. Sounded, of course, like crap.

So I reversed the white and black and everything was fine.

I inspected the connections on the bottom plate of the pickup and it was identical to the other two. Internally this middle pickup is wired reverse because it's a RWRP model. But I shouldn't think that would change the color coding of the leads on the outside.

Anyone know why the color code on this pickup would be reversed?

(PS. I'm not using the coil split, i.e. red lead is unused.)

Re: SD classic stack plus question

IIRC, there was a batch early on in the shipping that were wired and phased opposite of what they should be. Best to search for early threads about them.

Oh, that's explains it then. Thanks. It's fine the way it is, so long as I know I'm not losing my mind... which could still be the case I suppose...

Re: SD classic stack plus question

Thanks for finding that, Erik.

Guys like you make this a great board. I don't understand why so many other boards are hell holes of bad attitude.

Thanks again.
