Just got my Distortions installed in my PRS Santana SE (Neck/Bridge).

One word....NASTY!

Re: SD Distortions

I tell everyone, "best metal riffing pickup ever." And that's not all it can do. I love the Distortion. Never used one in the neck, though. How defined is it in the neck position?

Re: SD Distortions

I've tried the Ceramic JB in the bridge (which is close). It's quite clear. Tight-assed bottom end too. It's clarity would be between a JB and a Custom.

Re: SD Distortions

Am getting my Sh6/59n combo installed next week, its at the shop now. can't wait... and thanks again for all the advice you guys gave. i'll post again once they are installed.

Re: SD Distortions

i'm the only one among my peers who appreciate the DD in the neck- very good definition for solos :)

Re: SD Distortions

the Distortion is coupled with a Screamin Demon (B) in my Ibanez RG 1550. i prefer this combo because when i switch between pickups, the difference is rather marked, that's how i like my tone to be- differentiated.

having a higher output unit in the neck is an intentional move, the DD in the neck handles mostly single notes & i need these to stand out, hence my choice of pickup.

Have you tried them the other way around? Sounds like a great (and more traditional) combination then!

Re: SD Distortions

yup, but not in this guitar (my other Ibanez). i prefer the Demon's growl in the bridge, it has a warmer midrange the Distortion couldn't pull off :)
