Sd JB Junior Help/Repair

Hey Guys, and Gals,
I have searched high and low for some help, but no go, so here I am. Anyway, I have a
Duncan JB Jr, and it shorts out when you push on it/move it. I have it screwed down to a spot where it
does not short, but i would still like to fix it properly, but I have no idea how these come apart.
Do I need to remove the pole screws, or does the circuit board on the bottom come right out with a
little persuasion? I do not want to pull wires out of the board and I do not want to guess, or make
the issue worse. Thanks in advance.

Re: Sd JB Junior Help/Repair

The molded covers don't come off. At least we don't recommend prying them off. You could always send it back to us to repair- sounds like a cheap and easy fix. Contact us for an RMA number and send it in.

Re: Sd JB Junior Help/Repair

Early examples did shed the moulded plastic cover because the adhesive failed.

It would help to know the guitar in which the shorting pickup is installed. It is possible that the underside of the pickup is in physical contact with a metal component within the pickup cavity. (i.e. Cavity shielding or its grounding screw.)

Another known issue with SD Li'l pickups is the twin blades coming detached from the ceramic bar magnet. (Another adhesive issue.)

Re: Sd JB Junior Help/Repair

Not an adhesive issue, I don't think. it seems like it was once screwed down into the body so tight that a wire(s), became under stress
messing with the connection or maybe a broken wire inside the cable. How much do you think it will cost to fix if I send it in?
Thanks guys. Edit: Btw, no metal in the pup cavity, I built the guitar. The jb jr was part of a trade, in which I know the dude knew
the pup was flaky. I never thought I would like a jb in the neck, but I love it! Tons of headroom and body, really cuts, and can sound
like a bridge pup and as clean as the best neck pup.
