SD Nazgul & Sentient problem on KM-7

Hi all, first time poster.

Coming here because I have one of the first run KM-7's and only recently had a chance to play with it at band jamming levels. I experienced some really bad squealing coming from the pickups, both the bridge and neck. I switched to a different guitar and had zero issues, so its not my amp. I thought I read a long time ago that some people had this same issue? Is it a wax potting issue or something else I can solve by myself? I figure its the wax potting because when I play at home through my HD500x and headphones, I never have a problem.

Thanks for your help

It certainly sounds like a wax potting issue to me. Does it do it on even moderate gain settings?

It may be worth shooting Schecter an email, see if they will take a look at it under warranty

Hey RIP.

If I remember correctly the first run KM7s did have nazguls/sentients with microphonic problems.
You could likely contact Duncan or Schecter and get a replacement or a repot. You may be able to repot them yourself by purchasing wax, melting the wax by use of a "double boiler" technique where you heat water and use the boiling water to heat a wax carrying vessel evenly. You would then put the pickup in the wax until bubbles stop coming out. This will likely not be as thorough as a vacuum potting, but it may fix your problem.

I would contact Duncan or schecter first though, maybe try PMing Riley or JoeyMcDermott on here, they are customer service guys for duncan.

Edit: found the thread where I saw it https://forum.seymourduncan.com/showthread.php?284671-Microphonic-Nazgul-and-Sentient
