Anyone here have any experience with the Seymour Duncan original Blackout active bridge humbucker (AHB-1) & active neck single coil (AS-1)? Just came across these, wonder if I should try Them in my Charvel Model 5FX before going passive? Do them come with all wiring, pots, jack and toggle switch?

No single coil experience, but I have an AHB-1 and love it. I am not a fan of active generally speaking, but really like this.

Here it is in a basswood body / maple neck Dean Vendetta.

Well, it depends on what you're looking for. If you don't like EMG's, Blackouts are kind of the antithesis to an extent. They're fat, sorta scooped, and really really REALLY hot.

They're more passive-like in the sense that they're slightly less compressed than EMG's. I remember when I had them, I recorded DI's with them, and they seemed to have very close to the same headroom as EMG's running at 18V based on the dBU they put out into my interface. But don't think I've tried passives as loud as Blackouts.

I didn't love them, personally, but at that time, I was an EMG or die kinda person. The thing is I tried them thinking "improved EMG 81", but they're everything but that. I'm not dieing to revisit them, personally, but the Alt Metals seem more up my alley.
