SD pups for '97 SG

I've recently starting modding all my guitars and now I'm addicted. I have a 1997 SG that I don't play that much (I prefer my Les Paul), so I was thinking of changing out the pups. I'm curious about P-rails and was thinking about putting one of the hot P-Rails in the bridge. Undecided for the neck, maybe a '59 or a custom. I play mostly metal and like a crunchy sound through my all-tube Blackstar, but I'm open to trying a little something different with this guitar. I had some pearly gates that felt a little weak to me. I just put a JB/Jazz set in an epiphone V and I'm really happy with those. I have an X2N and Blackouts in some other guitars, which I like but are way too hot for the SG. I'm wondering if the P-rail is going to be heavy enough for me, and what it pairs well with for the neck. Thoughts?

The Hot P-Rails is heavy. As far as the other pickup, a 59 is a good choice. It sounds good clean, and with gain (so does the Hot P-Rail). So you can do metal, but also a whole lot more.

+1 on the Hot P-Rails being heavy. The standard P-Rails wired in series is plenty heavy, I can't image wanting something thicker & heavier. Regarding the OP's SG, I have a pair of P-Rails with Triple Shots in my '07 SG Standard:

That is one awesome looking SG! The cream pickups were a great choice.

Thanks for the replies, good info. Agreed, that SG is killer; may just have to put a Bigsby on mine.
