SD VINTAGE P90 & LITTLE59-b Project Opinions Sought~

I'm toying with the idea of using a spare Little59-bridge pu, & picking up a SD Vintage P90 or Antiq 90 bridge in a 2 pickup setup with 2 volumes & 1 tone. Since I already have a Strat with the Lil59 in the bridge, maybe I'd mix it up with the P90 in the bridge & the Lil59 up top, even though the 12.9k 59 may overpower the 9.3k P90. Any tonal thoughts or setup ideas that might be cool, especially something with cool middle position tones.....possibly have coil split options on the Lil59!? 5 or 3 way switch? I dunno, i just want to try something new & interesting. It's a mid-life thing & i'll even boldly try to wire it myself. Hit me with your experiences folks.....i'm ready to try anything! A schematic would definitely hep lots!
Thanks all~~

You might like the parallel option on the Little 59 rather than split. It will still be hum-cancelling. I generally like the little humbuckers better in parallel than split, anyway.

Dave....are you saying to just not split it at all...is that what parallel is? Thanks~

there are multiple ways to wire two coils. series in phase is the typical way a humbucker is wired. parallel in phase is another option which sounds brighter, thinner, and lower output than series. you can wire a switch to select between them. i dont know if the lil 59 will overpower the p90, they are fairly different so you cant directly compare dc resistance and take those numbers as output

Well, you might like split- you would have to try. I never liked split little humbuckers, but parallel seems to sound better to me. Normal humbuckers are wired in series.

Personally I like P90 neck pickups, but not so much in the bridge. So I would follow your original plan keeping the P90 neck.

I want to ask why you like P90 pickups, so I can get some idea why you want to create this custom pickguard.

Are you aware there is a Yamaha Pacifica with P90 neck, and Duncan SH-14 bridge humbucker with a Push/Pull knob for coil-split. Its called a Pacifica 611 HFM, and it seems like a very tone-full and versatile guitar.
