SDUG Ultimate Axe BEST WOOD

Aceman

I am your doctor of love!
That's right, the kind of guitars that have that "schwing!" factor.

Let's see them in all their flame, quilt, birdseye, spalt, zebra, or whatever awesome grain they have. This about awesome wood for the pure beauty of it!

Re: SDUG Ultimate Axe BEST WOOD

The NEXT TO LAST CATEGORY! The last category is Second Chance - so the runner ups all get one last chance. In this category, however, it is

ANYTHING GOES!!!!!!

If you have a guitar that has been passed over, un-appreciated, or just didn't fit any of the other 18 categories - this is YOUR chance. I would appreciate seeing things that were NOT part of any other poll in a serious way.

Example: Agile Les Paul. Could have made it up in Les PAul Copy, Asian Import, Refinish, Wood etc... So if I have seen this guitar five times already, don't bring it back.

This is for the Underdog Guitar that has been patiently waiting for its chance to be appreciated. Bring it boys -

* Some of you regulars might carefully consider IF you enter this, and WHAT you enter if you do. Not banning anyone. Just saying new and interesting gets you points here - not your usual awesome.

My stomach flutters when I take her out of her case. I know it's not the nicest wood around, but I just love the natural shine. It almost looks silver under the lights, with a warm undertone.

1995 Washburn USA MG 120. Photos do not even begin to do justice to the depth of the 3d figure in the ribbons of this quilt. The valleys look a foot deep on this quilt figure in real life.

The neck is quarter sawn maple the board Brazilian rosewood and the body under that quilt top is one piece of solid Honduras mahogany

Maple & ash...the neck is wenge, ebony, and satine (bloodwood).

Can we include violins? I have nothing fancy for guitars, but some of the old violins I found have sweet ass pieces of wood:

(100 year old Canadian made violin)

(100 year old New York made violin on top, 90-100 year old German Stradivarius copy bottom)

Really makes me wish they were making guitars with those trees . . .

Some stiff competition here.
I've tried the best that I can to take a shot that showcases the truly AWE-inspiring 3D-effect Quilted top of my beloved Washburn MG-122 but the more I got the figuring right, the less accurate was the color representation.
I might try to take a shot during the daytime on Saturday if I still have time but for now I present to you the fruit of my photographic labor, my 1994 Grover Jackson-era Chicago Custom Shop Washburn Mercury MG-122:

And just to show you a more color-accurate image of the top:
