Sealed-back bass tuner broken--that's the problem

Are they fixable or do I gotta buy new ones?

More details: "Y-shaped" GFS brand Bass tuners, I used a rubber hammer to pound just one through a hole to do a dry test-fit, now the tuning peg is loose and it doesn't turn or hold a string in place.

The other tuners are solid due to lack of rubberized hammer abuse

You have probably disengaged the gear wheel from the key button stem "worm".

Check the tensioning screw on the key button. Try removing it. Is it complete or is the end missing/broken?

It may be necessary to remove the plate on the gear housing to reassemble everything.

Considering the price of the GFS part, it might be easier to simply buy a direct replacement.

Forgive my ignorance, but which part is the key button?

with the help of a knife take out the sealing plate, hold the peg and re-screw the retaining screw, if you don't want to buy a new one thats the solution otherway you had to spend cash.....

The "clover leaf" shaped bit that you use to wind the gear wheel.

On the Wilkinson 'head illustrated in your last post, the tension adjustment screw is on the top edge of the key.
