See how I discovered this one weird trick for polishing your frets

Anyway, frets oxidize pretty quickly around here and I like to polish them up with fine-grade steel wool, except I was out.

"Whatever shall I do?" I muttered to myself, pacing the floor like a head with it's chicken cut off. Then, it came to me as the manna came to the starving children of Israel in the desert. I reached forth my arm unto the trash can and brought forth... paper. Specifically that wonderfully stiff and porous paper they like to send fire mail on. Ignoring the underlined, bolded and multicolored plea for my money I brought it to my neck and rubbed it swiftly to and fro over the frets. And lo! It did pick the oxidation right up, leaving my frets smooth as an over-used cliche.

Also, send me money.

I could see using chunks of cardboard on frets. If it's got the right abrasive quality, it'd polish them right up.

I'd say this paper was reasonably close to the paper they use as the face for corrugated cardboard.
