Seeking input on my new monster pedal board...

I've been using the same old 28x16 board for about 7 years now. I've tripped all over myself trying to be creative about how to pack everything on there for several years and I now am just flat-out of space. My Carl Martin Octa-Switcher loop pedal is a huge pig, but it works well. So I've been watching ebay for a good deal on a PedalTrain Grande, but just couldn't bring myself to spend $350 on a board (granted... it comes with road case).

So yesterday I used materials that I already had in the garage (plywood and various planks and wood trim) and built myself a new 36x18 board, drilled 21 - 1.5" lightening/access holes, and then painted it in the rubberized paint in an aerosol can that you use to protect the bottom of your car. It's similar to the truck bed-liner material that the guy who built my previous board used on it, but much cheaper. I'm just waiting on the new board paint to cure right now and then I'll load it up with strips of Velcro (got 21 feet of the stuff) and start placing pedals.

The pics that follow are 1) a "schematic" of my tone chain that I created in Word, 2) my old board with current (and a few new) pedals -- the new Wampler Pinnacle Deluxe is on the way, so it's not pictured, and 3) 4) a couple of pics of the new board -- before and after rubberized paint.

I welcome any input that you may have regarding my tone chain shown in the schematic. What you see on my old board is what I've been running and it's very transparent and works well. The pedals off to the right of the board are new and I haven't tried them out yet (plus, the Pinnacle that's on the way). I'm curious see get your input on if I've got stuff sequenced wrong. Any questions regarding my present rig or my planned rig ask away. Also, I do plan to add a Phase 90 and maybe an exotic "weird" FX pedal or two in the future (not exactly sure what those might be yet though... maybe an EHX B9 Organ Machine). Thanks!

Re: Seeking input on my new monster pedal board...

Thanks for the extensive write-up LTF! I will mull all of that over and ponder it.

I will say this about OD pedals though... I like what they do to tube amps. I get a tighter, much more immediate response when I hit the front end of a tube amp with a good OD pedal, versus cranking the amp and using its gain. I've owned and/or possessed a lot of nice high-gain amps over the past couple of years (Bogner XTC/Shiva/Twin Jet, VHT Pitbull UL, Elmwood Modena M60, Engl Powerball II, H&K Triamp/Grandmeister, Marshall 2203X, Lickliter Rage Prototype, and more). There were a few of them that had a tight, immediate response all on their own. But most benefited at least from a dose of the OCD slapping the front (pedal volume high, gain low) to add those qualities, as well as dynamics and touch sensitivity. I've found that most amps driven hard to the point of saturation are too compressed and even mushy for my tastes. I like the power tubes to be purring... but not flat-out over-loaded.

Anyways... I do appreciate the input and will ponder it further. Thanks again!
