ok so i got this guitar off ebay called JB Player Professional Series
looks like a Jackson Dinky body.

it's HSS with all emg select in there from 1980's or something
for some reason tho the humbucker sounds great for Metallica
but i'm sure that can be made even better.

i'm thinking about saving up for a Blackout
will it fit my guitar?

i will probly need to disable the other pickups aswell?

i'm sure the Blackout should give me a better Metallica & Megadeth sound

couple questios for ya.are you looking for active p/up set up and did your jb come with a active set up( wires for a 9 volt) ? in not, then does your jb be have room for the active compenets and if not to that are you willing to pay to make the room? i have played an esp with the kirk hammet set up but there was no bat. in it and it still sounds great. so i assume you could drop the black outs right in and wire it passsive, but what the point. seymour makes other high output p/ups that match the black outs out put( and the sound it pretty much the same. ) and are passive incase your jb is not set up for active use. dont quote me but i'm also shure that the non active high output p/ups are a little cheeper than the black outs. check out the tone chart to research if you haven't done so.then check there wiring site to to install your self( save a but load of money that way, incase the firat person don't get it right) and it's not that hard. what kind of other p/ups came with it( what kind of tone do they have)? and lastly yes you can put in a black out in and keepthe others. just some food for thought, never buy till you learn all you can. i'll check back soon to see ant answers you might of left. till then take care and happy p/up hunting.:bigthumb:

The Selects are passive and low output. The Blackout will be active needing a complete rewire, pots and jack, and a space for the battery. All active pickups work best with tube amps that can be pushed harder by the pickups. You might need to upgrade your amp to get a better metal sound.
IMO active pickups work great for metal and not much else. There are many great passive pickups that will do metal tones and will drop right in.

ya, i am using this guitar just for metal neways

i run a 2 tube damage control solid metal distortion pedal
into my crate gfx 65 gets a pretty **** good metal tone
i know the amp sucks but with the pedal its much better
if i ever gets the money i will get an ENGL Screamer amp.

i have another guitar with a duncan 59 humbucker in the bridge for classic rock
i've been reading up on these Blackouts lately and it seems like they are
upgraded EMG 81's which would be perfect for my metal guitar

Then the blackouts should work. You will need to change the pots to 25K and the output jack. There should be room for the battery with carefully wire layout.
