Semi full stock ???

Re: Semi full stock ???

I've done it, but not stacked. I used an old Marshall 1960 with v30's on one side of the stage and my Marshall JCM C212 with an EV 12L/V30 mix on the other.

I remember it sounding quite good.

Re: Semi full stock ???

The only problem is that the 4-12 will be 16 ohms, while the 2-12 is 8 ohms.
The 2-12, will be getting more volume, which is ironic, since the 4-12 can handle it better. I'm assuming it would be best to set the ohms selector on the amp at 8 ohms, even though one side will be mismatched a little. It won't harm anything.

Re: Semi full stock ???

You can have cabs set op for more that one impedence...

I belive Drew Half Empty used to do this by the way...one 4x12 and one 2x12 at the same time. I have gigged before with my Twin reverb with the internal 12's connected as well as a 4x12 cab loaded with Fanes...it can get scarry!:chairfall

You mean it was "superb balls to the wall madness wall of sound" ????

Re: Semi full stock ???

If I had a different head, I would be able to connect it to my 4x10 and then into my 2x12. The reason I can't right now is that my amp's output has 8 ohms resistance, and each cab has 8 ohm's resistance; if I daisy chain the amps, they would have 4 ohms resistance together.

Re: Semi full stock ???

I've done it plenty of times, and although it added 2x12s, it didn't add appreciably to the overall tone or volume- in fact it seemed to drop my percieved volume in relation to where the volume knob was positioned- that's factoring in the impedance selector.
