Hi-diddely-o o good folks on the forum!
Long time no post.. comp problems :gurmpy:
Anyways, I've been explring the world of guitars and amplification a bit further still, and noticed that quite a few artists use separate preamps in their rigs..
My own amp, A carvin XT-112, is a nice tool, but sometimes I want to go OTT with in-your-face-and-out-your-backside-brutal distortion..
Can you people recommend any neat more-or-less tube preamps for that purpose?
Also, on a more general level, list all the down and upsides of using separate pre-and power amps. And can a pre-amp be used like
Guitar -> preamp -> effect return
or will I blow up my amp?
