series wiring two Quarter Pound SSL-4s

ok, I've got two of these, one of them RWRP, mounted together on a humbucker plate. All that's left is to wire it up.

White-hot
Black-ground

So I tie the two black leads together, ground one of the whites, and use the other white as the hot? And the two black leads would go to a mini-switch so I can ground them out and go to one coil only?

I'm trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong. Each coil is 13k ohms. In series it ought to be 26k, but I'm only getting 13k with each coil alone, and in every way I'm trying to wire the two together....

I know this is one of the most basic wiring schemes; it's right in front of me and I'm totally missing it. help!!

Since they are RWRP, it should go like this:

Coil 1 Black -> Ground
Coil 1 White -> Coil 2 Black
Coil 2 White -> Hot/Output/Volume

That is without a switch how they run in series. The switch wiring depends on the switch type.
