Serious grounding problem!

Hi guys. I seem to have gotten myself into a bit of trouble here. :smack:

I rewired my Strat from scratch using better quality parts, a push-pull pot for 7-way switching, and a master tone/master mid configuration.

I used this wiring diagram: http://www.guitar-mod.com/neck_on_sec.gif

When I tried it, all I got was a buzzy noise. The volume control turns the noise up or down, so that seems to be working. When I touch the outer casing of my cord jack, I start to get a somewhat clean signal; touching the strings or trem seems to have no effect.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm sure I've done something monumentally stupid.

Thanks

Re: Serious grounding problem!

sounds like youre missing a ground. if you have a meter start checking the connections. start at either the jack or the switch and go down the line.

Also, that diagram seems to me to have a small mistake.

It should look like this:

There's no need for that other side of the switch. He was showing a SPDT switch, but calling it a SPST. The latter is what you need.
