Seth Lover Esquire wiring?

Since the Seth is only 2 wires is it possible to wire it Esquire style with the 3-way switch? Will the pickup blend well with that wiring? It would be cool if it worked!

Re: Seth Lover Esquire wiring?

sure it can work. if it was me id put a .015 cap on the 1st position, .047 and tone control on the second and nothing on the third. that way youd have a darker tone in position 1, a tone control that could run from bright to even darker than the 'dark' setting in pos 2, and wide open and bright in pos 3.

the .015 or around there is good for treble roll off without getting too dark and muddy a .01 cap would be another good value for a slightly brighter tone.

the tone control in pos 2 gives lots of variability

the straight pipe setting in pos 3 kicks ass

i have my esquire setup basically the same way and i couldnt ask for anything more. ive done whole 4+ hour gigs with just that guitar straight into a cranked amp and never felt wanting for a tone i couldnt find

Cool! Thanks for the info jeremy! I just saw that the '59 also comes with 2 wires and it's waxpotted! Big plus! I have the stuff for the usual esquire wiring at home so i'm starting there and see if i like it, if not i mod it your way! :)

Jeremy,

I have a BG1400 and wanted to wire it up (when I finally find an Esquire to put it in...) but wondered since the BG is 4-wire, could I also split it in the 1 position? Maybe use the .1 as you suggest so it is not too dark? That way 1 would instantly cleaner and lesser volume, 2 would be full and flexible (having vol and tone), then 3 would be fully bright and burnin... That sound realistic?

My other option was to sort out the "Eldred wiring" - the 50's Top Bound CS Esquires sound AWESOME in their demo and the clip with BG playing one!

.01 not .1
im sure you could do it with the split, but im not sure how much volume youll lose with the split since its a stack
