Hello everybody,
I own an almost 20years old yamaha pacifica 311MS (telecaster-type with two humbuckers, which may or may not be a cheap version of Mike Stern's signature depending on who you ask to...). During these years I have changed my playing style and musical tastes, and now I'm past the high-distortion rock and punk phase and into the clean tone/blues/jazz phase (where I think I may settle).
So, as I have accepted that I won't be making a living out of my guitar playing, and just want to have fun playing in amateur bands, I've thought that instead of buying a brand-new american guitar and spend over a thousand $/€, I'll just upgrade my current guitar for another 20 years of fun, as playing it just feels 'like home' (and of course, if I buy a new guitar I could always swap the pickups which the ones I buy now).
I still have the stock pickups in it, which I believe were inspired after a SD Hot Rails (tele bridge), and un-specified neck full-sized humbucker. I find that the bridge hot rails has maybe too much output for my taste, and the clean tones are not so great. The neck humbucker is not bad, but it really does not 'shine' particularly neither clean nor distorted, maybe it lacks some character.
I was looking for something that will give me nicer clean tones, and still allow for some overdrive/distortion (think AC/DC as a limit) when needed.
My current idea is to fit the following pickups:
Have you ever tried this combination? Will the output level of both pickups be 'even'? And when split?
Any other suggestion? (I am partial to putting two humbuckers in there, but there are so many options in SD catalogue for neck humbuckers!)
Cheers form Spain!

My current idea is to fit the following pickups:
- Neck: Seth Lover humbucker (4conductors for split options)
- Bridge: Lil'59 tele-sized bridge humbucker
