Seth Lover (SH-55) Fit Le Paul Classic

My 2000 Classic is about to get a pair of Duncan SH-55 pickups. Will these pickups fit the stock pickup surrounds without any difficulty? The Duncan '59 pair that I installed years ago fit with no problem. The new set actually came with 2 black pickup surrounds, which I don't plan on using.

The p'up rings included with the retail version of the SH-55 should be a direct fit over Gibson M-69 rings.

HTH,

You'll have no problem. Plus, you'll love those pups:arms:

Yes
I know the outer dimensions of rings can be quite different, but not so often the inside (PATB as an exception). The SH55 is an exact recreation of a Gibson sized humbucker (and made by the originator of this design in the first place), and you have Gibson rings

I probably should have taken a closer look at my Classic's '59s. They mounted easily I nto the stock Gibson rings, but there is enough space showing, so that I can see the base plate underneath. The '59s are uncovered. I was concerned when I saw the Seths arrive with black surrounds/rings and for a moment I thought the black ones meant that I could not use the stock Gibson rings.

If you put Seths in a Les Paul, you'll never go back. They are the best pickups I've ever heard in an LP. They have that perfect, classic "honk" thing. The neck is just so violin-like, and the bridge is the perfect amount of treble without giving you what my buddy calls the "Full Trotsky" (icepick to the brain).

Well, fairly naturally enough if you stick a cover over a pickup, it has to be bigger than the pickup or it won't fit (Captain obvious point). So a covered pickup naturally will fill the ring more closely. The humbucker ring is also designed for covered pickups.

That's the sound I'm currently looking for and a sound I don't hear much these days. So, you might say that I am (ahem!) you might guess, an "older" player. I might miss the forceful and versatile sounds of those '59s, but I never managed to find a spectacular middle position sound, try as I have. The best I managed was really more bridge than both pups together. I'm hoping the Seths will solve that; so that I get that "thin, sweet" sound without clobbering the amps that I use.

I've never had a problem putting Seths in any of my Gibsons with the stock pickup rings.
