Seth Lovers in a spruce top guitar

Hey y'all. I have a really nice spruce top guitar that currently runs Phatcats. I love the cats but am neededing a darker sound on the rock, blues-rock side and am wondering about some Seths, any one use Seths in a spruce top? I notice Robben Ford is using a 59 in the neck and a custom in the bridge, so I'm torn between Sths and that combo, and no, the Phatcats are not for sale, they are going back in at a latter date ( or maybe in something else for a while )

you might try just a 59/59 combo. I think that the 59 would be darker then the custom in the bridge. I really don't know what the seths would sound like in a spruce top guitar, but my guess would be a little airier than the 59's but maybe a little smoother because of the A2 magnets in the seth

Seth's aren't dark pups. A spruce top is gonna be bright, like maple.

Maybe try the Custom Custom in the bridge, the A2 magnet should make it darker and warmer for you. 59s are a possibility as well (although based off of vintage pups so they may be a bit too bright for you).

I think the Alnico II Pros are wonderfully warm and musical pups and they could really do the trick as well. Use your ears to judge.

The Seth's are very transparent as far as 'buckers go. If you want a thicker sound, the Alnico II Pro at the neck and a CC at the bridge would do you well.
