SETH LOVERS IN MY GIBSON 335

I had made a couple threads asking about possible pickups for my 335. I ended up going with a pair of 4 conductor Set Lovers and changing the wiring harness to coil split them both. I've been playing them for about 3 weeks now and I absolutely love them. I love the chimey (for lack of better word) sound of them. Almost bell like. I play some distortion and it was recommended they would be fine for that up to about a good heavy AC/DC type distortion. I would agree. Can throttle them up and pull a little feedback out of them which I actually like. Keeps you on your toes and managing your volume knobs. :8: You seem to come up with different adjectives to descried the sound. Or use others you've heard. An airy quality to them, described by others, would be a good one as well.

Also wanted to mention another hidden treasure. Earlier in the year I bought another guitar and the guy I purchased it from had a surplus of strings given to him by a friend he did some work for. He included a 3 pack with the guitar I purchased from him. I am certainly not a highly polished or extremely experienced electric player but if I can notice a significant difference in something it might be worth a look see. These strings were D'Addario NY XL strings. To my ears this 335 had been dull sounding and I never bonded with it. Even with a few different sets of strings of different makes. I actually thought of selling it numerous times. These NY XL strings turned this guitar 180 degrees around. It was a night and day difference to what it was. I could not believe it! Don't think I will ever play any other electric string. At least on this guitar. They sound great on the other guitar as well but for some reason it was night and day on the 335.

There is a thread about NY XL's in the Guitar room. I use them a lot. They last really well.

Glad you dig the pups. Rock on!

Seths are exceptional in 335s. Another of my favorites are the Antiquities. IMO, they both sound their best in 335-type guitars.

Great pairing of guitar & PU's. Seth's are an excellent choice in any hollow or semi-hollow, along with Les Pauls.

So my Seth Lovers have been in almost a month!
I absolutely love them!
They're a match made in heaven!
Thank you for all the suggestions!

I can't imagine a guitar that Seths would sound bad in.

Great choice. Glad you like them.
