can i get a Seth Lover without the nickel cover? i think i want one for my superstrat, but i dont think the nickel cover would look right on that guitar. but then again, if i get the tone i want, i would be willing to deal with the look.

Re: Seth without a cover?

They are not wax potted so removal of the cover is fairly easy. Lew

No telling...just like in the 50's. Many are double cream tho! Lew

Re: Seth without a cover?

how much for a bridge position seth anyway? also, would the alnico 2 single coil be a good match for the neck position?

Re: Seth without a cover?

I have ordered several Seth's for customers without covers but like Lew said the cover is easy to remove and there is a chance you will get double creams if you go with covered ones. Duncan doesn't lower the dealer cost much for the uncovered one's either, so it only saves you a few bucks to order it that way.

Either Lew or myself can check bobbin color for you on covered pickups. I do it all the time on Seth's and Antiquities.

Here's a tip I learned from John at Blackrose for checking color:

remove the polepiece and you can see one bobbin. The remove one screw from the bottem of the pickup and you can see the other color!

Don't know why I didn't think of that myself...but I didn't.

Here's a tip I learned secondhand from John at Blackrose for checking the color of bobbins in covered pickups:

remove one adjustable polepiece and you can see one bobbin. Then remove one of the four screws from the bottem of the pickup and you can see the other color!

Don't know why I didn't think of that myself...but I didn't. :smack:
