They are both my favorite SD pickups and am wondering if a Seth lover bridge can replace an aph2 b, i can get a set of aphJBJ form 86 neck and a seth lover bridge(8.10k.)for 146 $ I know one thing can't replace the other but do it gets close? Am noot a crazy Saul fan but the aph2 sounds like....IDK with some sort special attack

Re: SETHLOVER VS APH2 FOR BRIDGE

If u go with the Seth u shd be happy. Itll have more character than A2p i bet. Its just a better, gourmet pickup. I love the sound quality of all the $79 Sd pkups, but the Seth and Ants sound extra good & worth $ so do it! And if JBJs are what m friedman used, damn it sounds beautiful.

JBJ means that it is a JB pickup wound by MJ, or Maricela Juarez, the tone QUEEN at Seymour Duncan. I don't know why, but the pickups that she winds seem to have that extra mojo. I had a few JBJs and got rid of them before I really knew about pickups or who MJ was.

I've had both pickups, and I thought both rocked hard. The Seth gave me the best classic "PAF" sound I ever heard in the bridge of a 1977 Gibson doubleneck six, and Alnico II Pro I have in the neck of my very bright Les Paul sounds like pure heaven. I also really love the APH-1B I have in the bridge of my B.C. Rich Bich doubleneck 12 side. Jangly on the clean and grindy and crunchy when using overdrive and distortion. Very pro sounding IMHO.

+1. Both are great choices, but I'd lean towards the Seth. If you got an A2P, you wouldn't be disappointed. I just played at a gig tonight with an LP with a pair of A2P's. Sounded pretty nice. I know, I'm not much help.

So... If i got this right, thats a picture of an A2P (Alnico2Pro) bridge wound by mJ- does that come With the Seth, and not a JBJ? Cuz a JB neck doesnt sound right to me... Or are u saying this is an A2p u cd get instead of a Seth/JB set?

Re: SETHLOVER VS APH2 FOR BRIDGE

i prefer pups to be potted, just cos it comes in handy when you crank up the volume and/or gain.

Re: SETHLOVER VS APH2 FOR BRIDGE

If that's the actual picture of the pickup I wouldn't buy it.

1. The tape has been removed.
2. The lead is coming out the side instead of through the baseplate.
3. The sticker looks like it was removed or had fallen off - hopefully it's just that it fell off and was put back on.

All of that would lead me to think there was an issue with the pup. Most likely the lead needed to be lengthened, although it's possible it was damaged and was rewired, if not rewound.

The lead is coming out the wrong side, so it's possible the coils were put back on the wrong way, although the wax build up on the baseplate screws makes me think that they weren't taken off at all, or that it was re-waxed.

There are a lot of possibilities in regards to the condition of that pup, but I'd stay away. You can find any A2P. It may or may not be MJ-wound, but I'd rather buy a pickup you know to be 100% functional. APH1BJ pups appear on ebay every so often. I bought one.

Personally, I prefer my 57 Classic Plus in my LP. The Seth was too tame and the A2P was decent but not everything the 57+ is, for my tastes and my guitar (mahogany no maple cap, maple neck and fretboard).

If you have a bright guitar either should be spectacular. I've found the Seth to really be the most transparent. If your guitar has the goods it'll be awesome. If it lacks the Seths won't cover that up.

Me too. I like PAF's, but don't like that pingy edge of microphonics that come with unpotted pickups. Luckily, my nickel Seths didn't have it, so I didn't pot them. But, I potted my Brobuckers.

Re: SETHLOVER VS APH2 FOR BRIDGE

My seth is microphonic, it reacts slightly with the trem springs when I play any F on the guitar to get a strong note. I love playing songs in F because of it, I think that the microphonics sensitize the pickup to the body VERY slightly, making the guitar sound much bigger than the Ant2 surfer I had in neck priorrrr(similar outputs? to seth??).

Of course I am a few sam adams in now. The local gas station is selling singles of good beer, I love this.
