"Seymorized" Tele bridge PuP from 1978

Hi all,

I recently bought a 1976 Telecaster and this was what I found when I pulled the bridge pickup. I know that the guy I bought it from put the PuP in the guitar in 1978 (he had removed the original pickup and replaced it with this one).

From reading other posts here, it seems that this was not a SD pickup, but a rewind. Is that correct? Or did they take a Fender Tele pickup and put in a new bobbin, magnets, etc.

I don't know of anyone who was making Tele replacement PuPs in that era, so is it safe to assume it started as a stock Fender pickup?

I'm really just looking for information. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

EDIT: it should have read "Seymourized"

Resurrecting an old thread to see if I can get any more information. I finally got around to building a guitar around this pickup.

I can't offer any info on SD archaeology, but that is both a cool pickup and a cool guitar. Perhaps there is someone here that might know the history of such a sticker.

Most likely that is a stock Fender pickup that was either repaired or customized by Seymour Duncan. Exactly what was done is difficult to know. The decal is correct for the ~'78 era.
