what do you use for an amp? the pups that were in angus' old sg were very similar to a 59b and he was using a cranked nmv marshall thru greenbacks

Yeah, 59 will give you more ACDC and Paf tone.. AIIP would give you a warmer, creamier tone. (slash)

Angus has "modern" sounds? :p

If you're running a Plexi, you have two options for serious crunch... high output 'bucker and the dials at about noon... or a PAF with the thing cranked. To me, Plexis sound kind flabby unless it's being pushed hard.

SORRY currently higher output.

doesn't Angus have an overwound PG in his #1 SG right now? I know in his new(er) SG sig gtr with Gibson, has an overwound PG in the bridge and a regular one in the neck

yes I do some boutique pedals, I know that many endorse other brands as they do not use pedals zoom in really shows. So I think it also should be for pickups.

I like Angus myself. I'd put an UOA5 in your CC, which would give it A2 type dynamics, with more treble and bite than a CC, but not so thin, bright, and scooped as a C5 or '59.

Re: Seymour Duncan 59 'or Alnico II in the bridge?

I don't know about the AP2 wind, but the '59 is very responsive and excellent with different magnets. It becomes a different rock machine: A2 almost a '78 model.... think VH2 or WaCF tones, A8 gives it a kick-butt punch, keeps the lows tight, boosts the mids and rounds off the treble while giving you more preamp kick. I'd LOVE to try a '59/8 guitar with a cranked Plexi!! An UOA5 will give you a more vintage flavor with more mids while not killing the bite.
