It must be a rare piece of document. Would you consider scanning it and sharing it with us?

Edit: Please disregard this. I could not see the link above. :(

Re: Seymour Duncan Catalogs

I have 11 full-size pages of that 1982 SD catalog scanned from an actual catalog w/ pen markings, crinkled pages, punched holes for placing in a binder folder, warts and all. Got them from the old Jackson Museum website, so it's not from me personally. It's incomplete though - no "EVH" pup listing is in it no front cover scan, et al.

No EVH nor 78...Not even as a Custom made option...? Interesting!

Why is the interesting...you've been being told for days that the EVH/78 was NOT an old SD pickup, was not an custom options in the old days, was NOT the first pickup marked by SD and would NOT be in any old catalogs...

"The '78 Model pickup is a faithful recreation of the legendary low-output, Alnico 2, P.A.F.-style humbucker that Seymour designed in 1978 for various high-profile artists he was working with at the time. This pickup should not be associated with any specific artist. The traditional '78 Model comes with single conductor braided shield cable and a bottom plate with long mounting legs. However, since it's built-to-order, it can also be ordered in Trembucker spacing with four conductor cable and short legs. Either way, it's available with double-black, white or zebra (black and cream) bobbins. Recommended for bridge position. Also available in calibrated neck and bridge sets for $300"

Why should it not be interesting...?
Who was higher profile in 78 than EVH?
Why would it NOT be marketed or advertised like the 59' JB or JM?
There was not a custom shop in 78.. only custom rewinds..but there was this certain pickup for various "high-profile" artist only?
What... were they made of gold or something?
Wouldn't that certain pup be more popular and sell more than the others if it was in demand by the HP artists?

Something just does not add up!

"Built to order" means custom shop only

So in 78, obviously a very desired pup by HP artist was not available to the public? it was not advertised even as a built to order??..even more interesting!!

Back in the early 80s, we all thought it was the Variac, not the pickup.

+1....and how many fools blew up their Marshall's by cranking
up the variac when they should have been lowering it!

Re: Seymour Duncan Catalogs

Yeah, 'twas a good decade for the amp repair business, I understand. lol

... as usual... I didn't make myself clear. :banghead:

The scans I have are missing the page w/ the "Evenly Voiced Harmonics" listing. I used to have that catalog (on paper) when I was in high school ('82). and IIRC the "EVH" was definitely included in the catalog.

When the Jackson Museum site was still up, I tried several times to download the scan w/ that pup listed on it... but the link had always been broken... and I could only retrieve what Seymour Duncan catalog scans I could... of which were only 11.

Re: Seymour Duncan Catalogs

I have an 85 catalog I found in my guitar case. Custom, Distortion, The Mag, '59, but no 78/EVH/etc.

... the "EVH" pup is definitely mentioned in the full sized catalog from '82 I had.

... if you're hinting that evhguitars is a troll and wants his/her threads to be flamed- I don't know. I think he/she has *opinions* but at the same time seems to have done his/her homework on some things VH-related. But talk about trolling w/ EVH disinfo - that's one of the reasons I left the Metroamp boards- there was/is so much dodgy EVH stuff posted there on a daily basis it ain't funny... :banghead:

Anyway, apparently the copyright godz are not going to let me post the 11 pages of that old Duncan catalog. Shame... there's a lot of valuable information in them that could help answer people's questions regarding old Duncan pups. Regardless, it's a good thing I snagged all those pics from the Jackson Museum site and saved them to DVD(s) before FMI ate the site up... :friday:
