Seymour Duncan Distortion Neck in the bridge?

dumb

I'm looking for a couple pickups to pair together in a Les Paul. I want a P90 in the neck and a humbucker in the bridge, as that's what I have now; I really liked the change in the tone when I put the P90 in the neck position, tried doing likewise in the bridge and put the humbucker back after an hour.

I'm thinking of going with the Phat Cat in the neck, but then the question is - which humbucker to go in the bridge? I want somewhat hot output (>10k ohms), but not too high - the Phat Cat is 8k ohms, and I don't want a noticeable imbalance in output between the two pickups. I also want a fair amount of clarity...good treble response, strong mids, but I couldn't possibly care less about low-end. Basically, I want a clear, hot-ish humbucker.

On paper at least, the Duncan Distortion pickup designed for the neck seems to fit the bill for what I want in the bridge - it's 12.7k ohms, with a respectable resonant peak of 6.5 khz, and a bass/mid/treble eq of 5/8/9. I have a hard time finding another pickup with this combo of mid/treble frequencies, resonant peak, and resistance in the 10-15k ohm range.

I want to know if anybody here has any thoughts on this issue. Would this pickup work for what I am looking for? Is there any problem with my expectations for a bridge humbucker? Is there a better pickup (SD or otherwise) to pair up with the Phat Cat?

First this.

Dc reading is NOT a measure for output. Never ever ever. It's just plain wrong.

About your question. It's great in the bridge. Very open yet tight. Aggressive mids, nice solid, tight palm mutes. The highs can get a bit shreeky. It doesn't sing so much. I tend to swap the magnet for an alnico8 to maintain the output level and soften up the highs and broaden the mids.

For a hybrid it works great too. FullshredN is a nice match (more articulation, definition, dynamics) or the screamin demon (less difference than fullshredN, but more airy and more open than stock).
